As partner at Vivid IP, Alex applies her technical background and more than a decade of experience across the spectrum of IP law to establishing, defending, and advancing our clients’ brands. Having passed the patent bar in addition to the Georgia bar, and spent years drafting and prosecuting patent applications at prestigious firms for Fortune® 500 companies (including Amazon® and GE®), small businesses, and technology startups, Alex’s insight into the complex depths of patent law make her a particularly fierce partner to clients seeking to protect their inventions and innovations.
Alex’s reputation for building airtight patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios can be traced, in large part, to her experience in working with technology, IP developers, and software licensees. Her exceptional talent for communication and business-oriented approach make her especially attuned to the importance of deeply understanding a client’s underlying technology and advancing its value through effective licensing and agreements. In addition to her IP law degree, Alex holds an electrical engineering degree from Vanderbilt—which explains her precise, detail-focused approach to her practice (but not her vibrant sense of humor).

What big challenge is currently on your hit list?
“I’ve been working with online IP issues for years, but because of the very nature of the internet, it’s a constantly shifting battleground. I’m mastering IP enforcement against online infringers. Cybersquatters, beware!”
What’s one piece of advice you’ll never forget?
“While learning the art of drafting patent claims, my first mentor out of law school told me ‘Words matter.’ Over time, I’ve learned that words are ALL you have in this profession. Whether drafting patent claims, a license agreement, or a legal brief, it takes a great deal of skill to explain complex things in a simple way. My greatest weapon continues to be communicating clearly and effectively.”
Outside of practicing law, what are you most passionate about?
“Spending time with my son, Ethan. I also love traveling and lifting weights. Both make me feel like I can take on the world—just in different ways.”
